Za’atar Brown Butter Gnocchi with Crispy Sage

Ingredients

  • 500g potato gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1½ tbsp za’atar
  • 10–12 fresh sage leaves
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Shaved Parmesan or pecorino (optional)

Instructions

Brown the Butter

Melt butter in a wide skillet over medium heat. Cook until lightly browned and nutty. Remove from heat and stir in za’atar.

Crisp the Sage

Return skillet to low heat, add sage leaves, and fry briefly until crisp. Remove and set aside.

Cook the Gnocchi

Boil gnocchi according to package instructions. Drain and add directly to the brown butter sauce.

Finish the Dish

Toss gently to coat. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon zest.
