Our Journey – Lamees and Muthana
Muthana and I met while studying Computer Engineering, long before LAMEISE was even an idea. Despite coming from different backgrounds, we shared a deep appreciation for Middle Eastern food, culture, and the traditions we grew up around. Over the years, food became part of our own story too, especially as we built a family and eventually made the decision to move to the United States and start another chapter of our lives.
After moving, we quickly realized how difficult it could be to recreate the flavors we knew and loved. We could find Middle Eastern spices, but too often they lacked the freshness, aroma, color, and intensity we remembered. Products had often traveled through long supply chains or spent months in storage and on shelves before reaching the kitchen. At the same time, people who were completely new to these ingredients were being given very little help understanding them. You could buy sumac, za’atar, Aleppo pepper, or dried lime, but then came the question: What do I actually make with this?
Those two frustrations stayed with us. We wanted the authenticity and quality we remembered, but we also wanted these ingredients to feel accessible to someone discovering them for the first time. That became the foundation for LAMEISE and ultimately brought together our shared roots, my years of recipe development and culinary experience, and our desire to create something that could introduce these flavors to a much wider table.
Why We Created LAMEISE
When we started LAMEISE, we knew we didn’t want to create just another spice brand. We wanted to rethink the experience from the moment the spices are sourced to the moment someone opens them in their kitchen. Freshness became one of our biggest priorities, which is why we work in smaller batches rather than keeping large quantities sitting in inventory. Our spices are packed inside sealed zip pouches and then protected again inside airtight tins, helping preserve the aroma, color, and flavor that made us fall in love with these ingredients in the first place. We also keep our blends free from preservatives, fillers, and anti-caking agents because we want what you taste to come from the ingredients themselves.
Just as important to us is what happens after you open the package. Having spent years developing recipes and teaching people how to cook, I never wanted LAMEISE to sell someone an unfamiliar spice and leave them to figure it out alone. Our products are recipe-driven and connected to a growing library of more than 250 recipes, giving you ideas that go far beyond the one traditional dish you may associate with an ingredient. Middle Eastern spices can become part of breakfast, weeknight dinners, vegetables, seafood, salads, dips, marinades, and dishes you already love. You don’t need to have grown up with these flavors to cook with them; we simply want to give you great ingredients and the inspiration to start.
What Sets us apart from the rest
What Sets us apart from the rest
Us vs them:
Freshness
Many spices are ground, packaged, shipped, stored in warehouses, and then sit on store shelves for months before they ever reach your kitchen—gradually losing the aroma, flavor, and vibrant color that make them special. At LAMEISE, we source our ingredients in small batches and package every product in an airtight tin with an inner resealable zip pouch, helping protect it from air and moisture to preserve its freshness from the moment it’s packed until the moment you open it.
Packaging
Standard spice containers are designed to hold spices. Ours are designed to protect them. Every LAMEISE tin features an airtight seal and an inner zip pouch to help shield the ingredients from air and moisture, preserving their natural aroma and flavor for longer.
Ingredients
Many commercial blends include preservatives, anti-caking agents, fillers, or unnecessary additives. We believe exceptional ingredients don’t need any of them, so every LAMEISE product contains only what belongs inside.
Flavor
Mass-produced spices can lose much of their natural intensity over time. By focusing on carefully sourced ingredients and smaller production runs, we aim to deliver the bold, vibrant flavors they were meant to have.
Aroma
A spice should make an impression the moment you open the container. That’s why we focus on protecting the natural essential oils that give every ingredient its distinctive aroma.
Color
Dull spices often reflect age and prolonged storage. We believe vibrant color is one of the first signs of freshness, which is why we take extra care in how our products are sourced and packaged.
Recipes
Most spice jars leave you wondering what to make with them. Every LAMEISE product unlocks access to our growing collection of over 250 recipes, giving you inspiration and confidence every time you cook.
Cooking Experience
Many brands simply sell ingredients. We want to help you create memorable meals. From our recipe library to our carefully crafted blends, everything we do is designed to make cooking more enjoyable.
Purpose
Many brands focus on selling spices. We’re building a modern Middle Eastern pantry—one that brings together authentic ingredients, thoughtful packaging, and recipes that make every product easy to use.
Our Mission
Our mission is to bring the bold, authentic flavors of the Middle East into modern kitchens in a way that feels fresh, approachable, and genuinely useful. We want to preserve what makes these ingredients special while also giving people the freedom to make them their own. For someone who grew up with these flavors, we hope opening a tin brings back something familiar. For someone experiencing them for the first time, we hope it becomes the beginning of discovering something completely new.
We also believe the pantry itself deserves a little more personality. Spices shouldn’t disappear into the back of a cabinet and wait for the one recipe that calls for them. They should inspire you to cook, experiment, and try something different. That is why LAMEISE is colorful, why our products are built around recipes, and why our mission has become about changing one boring pantry at a time. We are starting with spices, but our vision for LAMEISE has always been bigger: to build a modern Middle Eastern pantry that brings the ingredients, flavors, recipes, and stories we love to kitchens everywhere.
